If you are reading this...

...you've been on the internet for a few hours and you stumbled on to this blog post.

Most likely with your Android smart phone.

Or maybe on your new tablet, or trusty laptop.
If you're on a desktop computer, you're probably expecting to buy something new for the holidays.

How do I know this?

Well, every year, Mary Meeker (renowned technology analyst and partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers) delivers a hugely influential report called Internet Trends.
Meeker (shown above), who has been recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the 10 smartest people in technology, delivered her report this year at the Code conference on May 28, 2014 in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California to a packed room of technology moguls, media buyers and strategists, and industry analysts. To many industry experts, Meeker's annual report is regarded as the most important set of data driven observations and predictions regarding technology today.  You can access her groundbreaking presentation here: Industry Trends.
Meeker's 164 page presentation breaks down the most leading technology trends, the same trends that I used to determine how you found this blog post.  All signs in her presentation point to a converging digital culture, spanning all nations (fastest growing digital adopters are India, Indonesia, and Nigeria) and ages (45% of children under 12 use the internet daily).  Smart devices have started to become much cheaper and more accessible and the number of those who do not have access to mobile technology will drop to under 10% within a generation (a faster rate of adoption than ever in our history).
Over 2/3rd's of this growing Digital Universe's content is created by it's consumers (YouTube videos, blogs, Social Media usage, image sharing).  And that number is growing!
Which leads to the mission of this blog.
The rise of technology is inevitable and exciting, but will it lead to the fall of human identity and connection?
There are stories everyday that sound alarms on the dangers that too much technology can bring.  This blog will focus on the choice that every one of us face every time we get brought in to the Digital Universe:  will we use our incredible tools to disengage or to make us more whole and to deeply connect with each other more than ever before?
